I'm bushed

Feelin' mighty low on energy today - hope it's just because of my hectic climbing schedule and that a few days rest will help. Wanna' be feeling ready for Saturday: gonna' climb Mt. Shuksan (9,127 ft) in a day and ski the descent - be a long day.

Haven't had much to write about lately except to post trip reports to my climbs page. I'm pretty much a one-dimensional guy right now: climbing, climbing and more climbing. Doesn't leave much room for ruminating and writing. Haven't been reading much either - that makes a difference too.

One thing of note: I went down to Salem, OR w/ my Ma last Saturday for my great-uncle's burial and memorial. He was the last of my Grandpa Cammack's (also deceased) brothers. My Grandma Orpha is the last of their generation - they've all lived into their 90's so I guess one can't complain too much. I went mainly to see Grandma and tell her I love her, 'cause I do and don't see her often. She keeps trucking along, though slower these days. 'Spose she's a bit lonely but Ma goes down often to see her and cheer her.

Some quotes re. grandmothers:
Grandma always made you feel she had been waiting to see just you all day and now the day was complete.

Grandmas hold our tiny hands for just a little while, but our hearts forever.

We should all have one person who knows how to bless us despite the evidence, Grandmother was that person to me.

What children need most are the essentials that grandparents provide in abundance. They give unconditional love, kindness, patience, humor, comfort, lessons in life. And, most importantly, cookies.
