Mo' better skiing

Went skiing at Stevens with Paul and Phil Monday. We went straight for the backside. It was snowing pretty good - there was about 7" new snow over an old, hard crust and it was pretty rough off the groomers. I was also nursing a two-day headache and felt extremely lethargic. I spent the first several hours skiing alone - no reason holding Phil and Paul back. Eventually a little life began to leak back into me and I started skiing more and flailing less. Went to the lodge for lunch and ran into Oyvind who was up skiing with his 4-year-old daughter. She's a cutie; we had a fun conversation about peanut butter sandwiches, cheese sticks and ramen noodle soup. Paul and Phil caught up with me during lunch and we finished the day together. The headache eventually disappeared and I began to enjoy myself. Overall: 18,000 feet vert. in 18 runs over 5 hours. All's well that ends well.
