Thoughts while practicing piano during the wee hours of the morning

Tickled the ivories for the first time in a long while... Why is it that I tend to gravitate to the piano when I'm lonely? For some reason concentrating on the music frees up my mind and helps me think through my feelings. Weird how that works, but it does.

It's fascinating how for me music functions as both a bridge and a wall: the notes, like an arch of sun-sparkled dewdrops glittering with reflections of my innermost soul - inviting yet ephemeral, beckoning but insubstantial, encircle me in a wall of sound, wrapping me in a cocoon of sweet tender comfort. Strangers connect and remain strangers still...
